Sarah Wallbaum, Certified Professional Midwife (CPM)

Midwives offer comprehensive care during pregnancy, labor and birth and provide postpartum and newborn care as well. My practice offers home birth to selected clients. Before you choose to receive your care with me, I ask that you be fully informed about home birth. I feel quality care and a trusting relationship are best ensured when educated people make decisions regarding their care based on perceived needs and the provider’s scope of practice. A system of informed disclosure and consent fosters parent responsibility and caregiver accountability. I feel this affords optimal protection within the healthcare relationship for all concerned.

I began attending births as a certified doula (DONA) in March, 2004 totaling ~100 births. In July 2008, I began an apprenticeship with Suzanne Ryan, CNM as a student midwife attending 124 births that ended October 2010. During that time, I was the primary midwife for more than 20 births. I then became a Certified Professional Midwife through NARM in March 2011. I attend conferences and workshops several times yearly to maintain adequate continuing education credits and professional relationships as required by NARM.
